On the Lower Bounds for Leftist Insertion-Deletion Languages
نویسندگان
چکیده
This article investigates languages generated by insertiondeletion systems that insert or delete one symbol using only a left context. We show that if the context of insertion or deletion is greater than one, then the corresponding families are all equal to each other and properly include the family of regular languages. We also show that the obtained family contains non-context-free languages.

Parallel Priority Queues
This paper introduces the Parallel Priority Queue (PPQ) abstract data type. A PPQ stores a set of integer-valued items and provides operations such as insertion of n new items or deletion of the n smallest ones. Algorithms for realizing PPQ operations on an n-processor CREW-PRAM are based on two new data structures, the n-Bandwidth-Heap (n-H) and the n-Bandwidth-Leftist-Heap (n-L), that are obt...
متن کاملOn the Power and Universality of Biologically-inspired Models of Computation. (Étude de la puissance d'expression et de l'universalité des modèles de calcul inspirés par la biologie)
The present thesis considers the problems of computational completeness and universality for several biologically-inspired models of computation: insertion-deletion systems, networks of evolutionary processors, and multiset rewriting systems. The presented results fall into two major categories: study of expressive power of the operations of insertion and deletion with and without control, and ...
متن کاملCapacity of Insertion and Deletion Channels
Theoretical estimates for lower bounds on the capacity of various insertion and deletion channels are calculated by considering the rates achievable using convolutional codes and sequential decoding. It is found that these limits fall below the rates that can be achieved by the use of watermark codes over similar channels. The sequential decoding procedure used is shown to be suboptimal, but it...
متن کاملInsertion/deletion polymorphism of angiotensin-converting enzyme and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: A case-control study on north Indian population
This research aimed to explore the ACE (insertion/deletion) gene association as key factor for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) development in north Indian population. A total of 200 clinically diagnosed patients with COPD were selected against 200 healthy individuals. Genetic variations of ACE (insertion/deletion) were evaluated by using polymerase chain reaction ...
